Well, like many people I've cursed the Opto design in the riverboat lock on this game. I've keep one clients machine going for the past number of years, but having looked at them for about the fifth time in four years I decided to fix it properly.

First I dug out a pair of tiny microswitches with very low pressure requirements and a very short roller ends, then I took off the four circuit board (two LED and two Receivers) and stripped the receiver PCB off all parts and ground off the traces. Then drilled three holes in the board so the switch would press though the holes and be rigid on the board (1/8" bit). Mounted one switch on the left side, and the other facing the opposite way on the right (where the LEDs were mounted) and aligned so the rollers would meet the middle of the ball. Needed some spacer washers (six on the right, two on the left) to get the switches in the right point - your mileage will vary.

Pictures someday...
